Between the 2008 and 2009 Mustangs there’s a few changes but otherwise the car for this year isn’t much different than the 2008 model. Since the 2010 model will be appearing early next year this means the run for the 2009 model will be shorter, about 6 months.
The biggestchange in the 209 model is in the option group formerly known as IUP(Interior Upgrade Package). This package will now be standard equipment on all “Premium” models. The Premium GT and V6 models will now have satellite radio, aluminum dash trim, and ambient lighting. Entry level Mustangs also lose the “Deluxe” name.
The Option package takes the trim level beyond just the aluminum trim and lighting effects. The Premium Interior Package includes a bright shift knob, dark charcoal door panels, leather wrapped wheel, message center, polished instrument gauge cluster, satin steering wheel spokes, door latches, scuff plates and vent covers.
Those hoping for new colors for this new Mustang will be disappointed. A shade of silver has been replaced by a new shade of silver. Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic replaces Silver Metallic. Not big news, I know.
A new feature is the Glass Roof option and is not available to special edition Mustangs. The full roof glass spans from the windshield to the rear window and is only available on Premium V6 and GT models. This option limits interior colors to Charcoal Black, Black/Red, or Black/Chamois color accent only.
The Bullitt and GT/CS will continue into the 2009 model year.
The GT-500 and GT-500KR 2009 models have a few changes. They now have standard satellite radio and ambient lighting. Horsepower and performance remain the same as well as appearances.
